Ian's Senior Year

This year is Ian's Senior Year of high school.  He volunteers, is learning to drive and is loving his US Government class. He is really getting into it and it's been the one class so far that I don't need to remind him to do the homework. He seems to be getting that look of  wonder at "what's next?" The excitement that comes from being 18, able to vote (Yes he will!!) and generally being thought of as an adult in legal and societal terms, if not yet in his parents eyes. Heck, I can still see him as my boy spending copious amounts of time in the aisles of Target wondering which light saber he needed next. He is changing before my eyes and I guess I better keep up and put on some different lenses when it comes to him. His graduation announcements have been ordered, senior pictures taken, fundraising begun for all the senior activities etc...If only the emotions of the parents could calibrate and sync up with the times of all the other school activities and be as steady as those graduates seem to be in June as they get their  diploma and head off to destinations varied and unknown. Whatever his future brings, I am proud of him and the young adult he has become. But I reserve the right to call him all his little pet names for as long as he will allow it. This is his year!
